Last week I was invited by Cath Kidston to make paper hydrangeas at their Spring/ Summer 2016 press day. A theme of their new collection is the hydrangea flower and the venue in London was beautifully decorated with real hydrangea blooms. I was asked to be at the event to demonstrate making paper hydrangeas myself and there were also a few places at the table for guests to stop and make a flower themselves with me if they wanted to.
I tried to prepare all the materials in advance, so that making a flower would be as simple as possible for people. I pre- made the flower centres and cut the flower petals and leaves out for people to choose the colours they wanted to use.
I really enjoyed meeting everyone and seeing their smiles when they were pleased with the flower they had made. Most people chose to make a small single flower from a bloom and this gave them a great taster of making paper flowers.
Thank you so much to Cath Kidston for inviting me along, the show and the new collection were so beautiful and I was thrilled to be a part of it.
If you would like me to craft flowers at your event, either to give to guests or to make flowers with them, please do get in touch.
